BoosterClub.org accepts reports of out-of-date or wrong facts and general questions about the guide by email at info@boosterclub.org.

Reporting an Out-of-Date or Wrong Fact

Fees, thresholds, due dates, and forms change, and a reader is often the first to notice. A report is most useful when it includes:

  1. The page address, for example the address ending in /taxes/form-990-n/.
  2. The fact in question, quoted as it appears on the page.
  3. The primary source that shows the current rule, such as the IRS page, the state agency page, or the statute, with its web address.

Reports are checked against the primary source before a page is changed. How pages are checked in the first place is described under How Pages Are Sourced.

Asking a General Question

A general question about the guide, such as where a topic is covered or what a term means, can go to the same address. The glossary and the section overviews, starting with Starting a Booster Club, answer many of these directly.

What BoosterClub.org Cannot Do

BoosterClub.org does not give legal, tax, or accounting advice for a specific club. It cannot review a club’s bylaws, financial records, tax returns, or state filings, and it cannot tell a club what its own filing obligations are. It files nothing on a club’s behalf.

Questions about one club’s situation go to the people who can answer them:

  • The IRS for federal tax-exempt status, Form 990 filings, and the club’s EIN.
  • The state agency named on the club’s state page for incorporation, state tax exemption, sales tax, charitable registration, and raffle permits. Each state’s page is listed under Booster Club Filing Requirements by State.
  • The school district for district booster club policies, agreements, and use of school facilities and names.
  • A qualified professional, such as a certified public accountant or an attorney licensed in the club’s state, for advice on the club’s own facts.

The full terms that apply to the site are on the disclaimer page.
